Google SERP Snippet Previewer
Simulate how your meta titles and descriptions will look in live Google search results. Prevent awkward title truncation before publishing.
Seeing Your Title and Description Before Google Does
Google truncates titles by pixel width, not character count, so a title of 60 wide characters can be cut while one of 65 narrow ones survives. This previewer measures the rendered width in the same font Google uses, on both desktop and mobile.
Type your title, description and URL above. The preview updates as you type and shows where each element would be cut, with the pixel width alongside the character count.
🛠️ Practitioner Pro Tip: The Pixel Width vs Character Count Reality
Google Search desktop snippet containers do not truncate titles at a fixed character count. Instead, titles are cut off when their rendered width exceeds approximately 580 to 600 pixels. Uppercase characters ('M', 'W') consume up to 18 pixels, while lowercase characters ('i', 'l', 't') take only 4 pixels. Using a pixel-based previewer prevents awkward mid-word ellipses.
How Google Decides What to Show
Titles are cut at roughly 580 pixels on desktop and 920 on mobile, which is why character counts are only a rough guide. Google also rewrites titles it considers unhelpful, most often when the tag is keyword-stuffed or does not match the page heading.
The previewer measures text in the font and size Google renders, accounts for the difference between desktop and mobile widths, and shows the truncation point rather than just warning that you are over a character limit.
