GA4 Clean UTM Builder & Normalizer
Construct clean, standardized tracking URLs for Google Analytics 4. Automatically forces lowercase, converts spaces to hyphens, and prevents fragmented campaign reports.
Campaign Parameters
Clean Tracking URL
Your URL is automatically normalized to prevent GA4 traffic fragmentation:
Email and email into separate rows.
Building Clean UTM Links for GA4
GA4 treats Facebook, facebook and FaceBook as three different sources. One inconsistent link is enough to split a campaign across several rows in your acquisition report. This builder forces lowercase, converts spaces to underscores, and strips the characters that break tracking before you paste the link anywhere.
Fill in the destination URL and your campaign parameters above. Each value is normalised as you type and assembled into the finished link, so what you copy is already consistent with the rest of your tagging.
🛠️ Practitioner Pro Tip: The BigQuery & GA4 Case-Splitting Trap
Google Analytics 4 and BigQuery export tables treat UTM parameter values with strict case sensitivity. If an agency tags ads with utm_source=Facebook and utm_source=facebook, GA4 records them as two distinct channel rows, breaking session grouping and attribution. Always normalize all parameter values to strict lowercase before deployment.
Why UTM Consistency Matters in GA4
GA4 reads the five UTM parameters literally and is case-sensitive on all of them. Source and medium decide which default channel group a session lands in, so a typo in medium can push paid traffic into the organic bucket and quietly distort every report built on top of it.
The builder lowercases every value, replaces spaces with underscores rather than plus signs, encodes anything that needs it, and warns when a medium does not match one of the values GA4 recognises for channel grouping.

UTM and GA4 Questions
Should I use UTM tags on internal website links?
Never use UTM parameters on internal website links (e.g. from your homepage to a blog post). Doing so overwrites the original session referrer, inflating session counts and destroying conversion attribution.
Where should URL anchor hashes (#) be positioned?
Anchor tags must be appended at the very end of the URL string, after all query parameters (e.g. ?utm_source=meta#pricing). Placing a hash before parameters breaks query string parsing.
Does GA4 automatically recognize Google Ads campaigns?
Yes. If auto-tagging (gclid) is enabled in Google Ads and linked to GA4, you do not need manual UTM parameters for Google search campaigns.
